Should We Import Drugs From Canada to Lower Costs?
In an effort to combat rising drug prices, the Governor of Vermont has signed a law allowing the import of prescription drugs into the United States from Canada. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) opposes the law, claiming that this model is not sustainable, since Canada does not have a large enough inventory of drugs to export and sell at reduced prices. HHS also voiced concern that this program could compromise the US regulatory system and allow counterfeit drugs to enter the country.
