Should healthy people have access to blood tests that detect cancer?
In recent years, there have been significant advances in using liquid biopsy to stage known primary cancers and select appropriate treatments. However, blood tests now show the potential of being able to identify primary tumors in otherwise healthy patients, raising concerns that such tests may lead to overtreatment with potentially toxic treatments.
