Should Hospitals Cancel On-Site Training for Nursing and Medical Students Due to COVID-19?
As university campuses close due to COVID-19, clinical rotations for nursing and medical students are also being canceled. This action is being taken to protect the health of both students and patients and to help conserve medical supplies. However, educators are worried that students will be unable to obtain the necessary amount of patient care experience required to graduate on time. Consequently, this will delay many healthcare professionals from entering the workforce at a time when they are needed more than ever.
During the COVID-19 outbreak, many clinical rotations are being canceled. This may stem the spread of disease, but could also delay students from entering the workforce. Are you for or against canceling on-site training for nursing and medical students?
